AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Capital University senior Dale Booher had an undefeated week of play to feed into the Purple and White's recent run of success. The Ohio Athletic Conference recognized his week of performances by naming him Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Dale Booher (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) went a perfect 4-0 last week in duals against Ohio Christian University and Ohio Northern University, performing out of the top spots in both singles and doubles play. He dropped just one set in singles play, that coming as part of a 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 win over ONU's Tim Kargl, marking the second time he defeated Kargl that afternoon. He previously defeated him in doubles play when matching up with Santino DiMichaelangelo.
Prior to the team's regular season finale win over ONU, Booher took in two more victories against Ohio Christian. He defeated Ryan Jones (6-0, 6-1) in singles play before running the table with DiMichaelangelo in doubles.
Booher has now won four straight doubles matches and four consecutive singles matches totaling his yearly marks to 9-14 in overall singles, and 6-2 in OAC singles. Booher is now 6-1 in doubles play since pairing with DiMichaelangelo.
Capital will serve as the five seed in this year's OAC Men's Tennis Tournament. The Crusaders will take on rival and No. 4 seed Otterbein University in the first round on May 2 at 3:30 p.m. at the Lindner Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
