ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Capital University men's tennis team fought valiantly but fell short of earning its fourth straight win. The University of Mount Union took down Capital, 9-0, at the Whitehill Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon.
Capital fell behind early with losses in all three flights of doubles action. Senior Dale Booher and junior Santino DiMichaelangelo kept it close but fell to Rob DeMarco and Jackson Schneider, 8-6. C.J. Martin and John Roberts teamed up, but fell to Jeff Williams and Robert Cross by a count of 8-5.
Booher again battled in his singles bout, and came back to force a third set against DeMarco. After he shutout his opponent in the second set, the two went at it in a tiebreaker, but DeMarco outlasted Booher, 10-7.
Singles matches two through six also went Mount Union, all by larger margins and in straight sets.
