COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital University Men's Tennis won its third straight match and improved its record in the Ohio Athletic Conference to 2-2 following its shutout victory over Muskingum University, Thursday afternoon.
Capital (5-13, 2-2 OAC) defended its home court with a 9-0 victory over the Muskingum Muskies (0-8, 0-3 OAC). The Purple and White earned win number three in a row with relative ease, surrendering 13 games overall and only three sets in which two or more games were won.
Only two games were lost in doubles play and the new lineup continued to have success. Senior Dale Booher and Santino DiMichaelangelo took care of their top flight doubles match against Levi Hall and Yozabro Igari, 8-1. C.J. Martin and John Roberts teamed up once again and won the second flight, 8-0, while Hunter Walter and Ben Heiland wrapped up the sweep in doubles play, defeating Caleb Patten and Micah Keith, 8-1.
All six Capital players doubled up on wins with victories in singles play. Martin defeated Igari in shutout fashion in the number two spot, while Booher DiMichaelangelo, and Heiland all surrendered one game each in their lop-sided victories. Roberts completed the sweep with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Micah Keith.
The win also marked Capital's first of the year at the CU Tennis Courts and will put the team's three-match winning streak alive heading into its road matchup with the University of Mount Union. The match between the Purple Raiders and Crusaders will take place in Alliance on Friday, April 14 at 1 p.m.
