TIFFIN, Ohio – Capital University Men's Tennis won its second straight match with an 8-1 road win at Heidelberg University on Monday afternoon. The team's performance locked in its first Ohio Athletic Conference win and four win, overall, on the year.
Capital continued with the lineup it rolled out on Sunday afternoon and paired senior Dale Booher (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) and junior Santino DiMichaelangelo (Westerville, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) together. Once again, the duo reeled in a big win, defeating Ben Moore and Porus Shroff by an 8-3 score. For Booher, it was his fourth straight doubles win.
Junior C.J. Martin (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby) and sophomore John Roberts (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) locked down the number two doubles tandem and defeated Dan Driscoll and Paul Claymier, 8-2. Capital swept doubles play behind an 8-1 victory by the team of Hunter Walter (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) and Ben Heiland (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek).
Booher won his third straight singles bout by handily defeating Ben Moore, 6-2, 6-1. The run of winning streaks for Cap players continued when Martin won his fourth singles match in a row by defeating Shroff in straight sets (6-0, 6-4). DiMichaelangelo also won his third straight singles match with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Claymier.
Heiland also posted a win by shutting out Alex Sprauge out of the six spot.
Heidelberg fell to 3-9 overall, 2-2 against OAC competition with the loss.
Capital (4-13, 1-2 OAC) will seek its first winning streak of the season behind its recent run of strong play with a home match versus Muskingum University on Thursday, April 13. The meeting between the Crusaders and Muskies was moved from Tuesday to Thursday due to incoming inclement weather.
