COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital Men's Tennis fell by a 9-0 decision to Walsh University at the CU Tennis Courts on Monday afternoon. The loss drops Capital's overall record to 1-2 overall.
Capital was asked to fight from behind after Walsh took all three doubles matches. The combinations of Dale Booher and C.J. Martin, plus Santino DiMichaelangelo and John Roberts both lost by 8-4 margins.
Walsh, an NCAA Division II institution, trotted out a strong lineup that had won three of its four matches this fall, and earned its fourth victory in shutout fashion. Following a win in his collegiate debut, freshman Nam Vo (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam/IMG Academy) fell 6-2, 6-2 out of the number-five spot in the Capital lineup.
Senior Dale Booher (Hartville, Ohio) also provided a solid challenge out of the top spot, but eventually fell in three sets to Vasily Vidmanov. After falling in the first set, 6-3, Booher came back and won the second in a tiebreaker, 7-5. The third tiebreaking set went to 10, and Booher lost the advantage and the match by a 10-7 count.
Capital is now 1-2 overall on the year and will break until February when they resume play with an early start to the spring season.
