SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Capital University tennis team took care of business on the road in a midweek, nonconference matchup against Wittenberg University, Tuesday evening. Capital defeated Wittenberg, 8-1, improving their overall record to 5-7 on the season.
Capital started off on the right foot, sweeping through doubles play to acquire all three points by large margins in each match. Dale Booher and Jared Judson paired up at the No. 1 spot to take an 8-4 victory while the combination of C.J. Martin and Beau Streety rolled to an 8-3 win. Luke Buchanan and Santino DiMichaelangelo constructed the third doubles team, in which they ran away with an 8-1 match win.
Buchanan and Booher once again headed up the No. 1 and 2 spots in the Capital lineup, and each took home 6-4, 6-1 wins over their respective opponents. Also earning singles match wins were Giovani DiMichaelangelo (6-1, 6-1), Judson (6-1, 4-6, 6-3), and Streety (6-3, 6-2) in the four through six spots in the Capital lineup.
The Crusaders will open OAC play this Sunday, April 3, on the road against John Carroll University at 1 p.m. Their first conference home matches will be held on Saturday, April 9, when the Crusaders host a tri-match with Heidelberg University and rival Otterbein University. Capital will hit the court against the Student Princes at 12 p.m.
