The Capital University men's tennis team closed the non-conference portion of its regular season Wednesday with a 6-3 victory at Cedarville in a dual match at Cedarville, Ohio.
The Crusaders (9-6 overall) won all three doubles matches and split the six singles matches to win their sixth consecutive dual match.
The Yellow Jackets dropped to 11-9 with the setback.
Freshman Beau Streety (Tuscon, Ariz.) and sophomore Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio) posted the largest margin of victory in doubles, combining for an 8-3 triumph at the No. 3 slot. Sophomore Luke Buchanan (Westerville, Ohio) and freshman Dale Booher (Hartville, Ohio) teamed up at the No. 1 spot for an 8-5 win, while junior Kenny Duncan (Poland, Ohio) and sophomore Spencer Walter (Hilliard, Ohio) registered an 8-5 victory at the second position.
Booher, playing for Buchanan at No. 1 singles due to an injury, was a 6-2, 7-5 winner. Streety was also victorious in straight sets, recording a 6-2, 7-5 triumph at No. 4 for his 11th straight singles win.
Walter overcame a first-set loss for a 5-7, 6-0, 1-0 (10-5) win at the third position. Judson was downed in three sets at No. 5, while sophomore Jesse Faulkner (Columbus, Ohio) was defeated at the sixth slot.
Duncan dropped a straight-set decision at No. 2.
Capital concludes regular season play this Saturday at home against Ohio Northern. First serve is set for 1 p.m. The Crusaders and Polar Bears are locked in a three-way tie for third place with a first-round home match in the OAC Tournament possibly on the line Saturday.
