Crusaders Earn 8-1 Victory at Muskingum

The Capital University men's tennis team picked up its first Ohio Athletic Conference win Tuesday, defeating Muskingum 8-1.

 

The Crusaders (4-6 overall, 1-2 OAC) grabbed all three doubles matches before taking five of six in singles.

 

The only triumph for the Muskies (1-4, 0-2) came at No. 1 singles in a three-set affair.

 

Sophomores Luke Buchanan (Westerville, Ohio) and Spencer Walter (Hilliard, Ohio) swept at No. 1 doubles, 8-0, while junior Kenny Duncan (Poland, Ohio) and freshman Dale Booher (Hartville, Ohio) followed suit at the second position with an 8-0 victory.

 

Junior Josh Dotson (Temperance, Mich.) and sophomore Jesse Faulkner (Columbus, Ohio) completed the team's impressive doubles performance with an 8-0 win at the No. 3 slot.

 

Freshman Beau Streety (Tuscon, Ariz.) downed Parker Abraham at No. 2 singles by a 6-1, 6-0 score. Duncan beat Grant Joy 6-1, 6-0 at the third spot, while Faulkner swept Ben Winland with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph.

 

Sophomore Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio) posted a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5, while Dotson rounded out the line-up at No. 6 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

 

Capital takes on non-conference foe Case Western Reserve this Friday. First serve in Cleveland, Ohio, is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
