COLUMBUS – The Capital University men's tennis team won its first three doubles matches and didn't look back Tuesday to defeat Heidelberg 5-0 in an Ohio Athletic Conference quarterfinal at the Capital Tennis Courts.
The No. 2 seeded Crusaders (14-5 overall) move on to the tournament semifinals, where they face third-seeded Otterbein, which knocked off Marietta 5-0 in the quarterfinals.
Sophomore Kenny Duncan (Poland, Ohio) and senior John Murray (Bolingbrook, Ill.) registered an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles to get Capital started. Freshmen Gian Carlo DiMichelangelo (Westerville, Ohio) and Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio) recorded an 8-4 triumph at No. 3 to give Capital a 2-0 advantage.
Buchanan and Judson posted straight-set singles wins at the Nos. 1 and 5 spots, respectively, to end the contest. All four other singles matches concluded unfinished.
Capital's semifinal match against Otterbein is scheduled for Friday at Lindner Tennis Center. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
