COLUMBUS – The Capital University men's tennis team remained unbeaten in Ohio Athletic Conference play Friday with a 9-0 victory over Wilmington at the Capital Tennis Courts.
The Crusaders (8-3 overall, 3-0 OAC) didn't surrender more than two games in one set in either singles or doubles. Capital didn't surrender a game against the Quakers (1-3, 0-2) in four of nine matches.
Freshman Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio) improved to 7-3 on the season with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles. Earlier in the day, Judson teamed with classmate Gian Carlo DiMichelangelo (Westerville, Ohio) for an 8-0 triumph at third doubles.
Freshman Spencer Walter (Hilliard, Ohio) recorded the other singles sweep, besting Cullen Corcoran 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Senior John Murray (Bolingbrook, Ill.) teamed with sophomore Kenny Duncan (Poland, Ohio) for an 8-0 win at second doubles.
Freshman Luke Buchanan (Westerville, Ohio) and Walter posted an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles. Buchanan registered a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at the top singles spot, while Murray (No. 2), Duncan (No. 3) and DiMichelangelo (No. 5) also tallied straight-set victories at their respective singles positions.
Capital resumes conference action tomorrow at Marietta. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. in Marietta, Ohio.
