No. 4 Crusaders Host Mount Union in OAC Tournament Quarterfinals

COLUMBUS, Ohio– Following the conclusion of its 2019 regular season, Capital Men's Soccer has secured the fourth seed in the OAC Men's Soccer Tournament. In the quarterfinals, the Crusaders will take on No. 5 University of Mount Union at Bernlohr Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m on Tuesday, November 5. 

2019 Regular Season 

Capital secured the No.4 seed in the 2019 OAC Tournament after finishing the season with a conference record of 5-3-1. The Crusaders started the season with a three-game winning streak against Geneva College, Grove City College, and Case Western Reserve University. Cap outscored its opponents 6-2 in those first three games. The Purple and White went on to have an unfortunate series of ties and losses. The team secured its next win of the season against Heidelberg University on October 9. In conference play, the Crusaders finished with four wins, a 2-2 tie, and three losses.

Players to Watch

The Crusaders have several players that may receive All-OAC accolades this season. Senior Greg Knox (Oxford, Mich.) has one goal this season and leads the team with six assists. Knox is ranked fifth in the OAC for assists. Sophomore Mitch Hughes (Clintonville, Ohio), is another player to keep an eye on. Hughes leads the team in points with five goals and one assist. Hughes is tied for 13th in the OAC for goals. Senior Brandon Woo (Hilliard, Ohio) and sophomore Sam Spirk (Wilmington, Ohio) are also top goal scorers for Capital. 

Senior Jon Schroeder leads the Raiders in points with four goals and four assists. Sophomore Rylan Wikle is Mount Union's other top goalscorer, securing four goals this season, good for eight points.
