Capital Drops 2-1 OT Decision to Otterbein

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Capital Men's Soccer finished up its 2019 regular season on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders dropped a 2-0 decision to Otterbein University Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. With the loss, the Crusaders drop to 8-5-4 overall, 5-3-1 in the OAC, while the Cardinals improve to 12-6-0, 6-3-0 in conference play. 


  • Early in the first half, Capital had a few chances. The Crusaders took five shots and had eight corners. 
  • With less than two minutes remaining in the first half, Capital was called for a handball inside the box and Otterbein received a penalty kick. Tiger Pham took the shot, placing the ball in the top left corner of the goal to put the Cardinals on the board. 
  • In the 58th minute of play, sophomore Bailey Lach (Cincinnati, Ohio) made his way around several Cardinal defenders with the ball and took a shot at the goal. The ball landed low in the back of the net and the Crusaders tied up the score. 
  • Less than a minute into the first overtime, Otterbein's Paul Hensley knocked the ball into the back of the net securing the win for the Cardinals. 


  • Bailey Lach had his first career goal.  
  • Capital had a total of 12 shots, four of which were on frame. 


With the results from today's match, the Crusaders secure the fourth seed in the OAC Men's Soccer Tournament. With this being said, Capital will play at home on Tuesday, November 5 against the number five seed, the University of Mount Union. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
