UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Capital Men's Soccer dropped a 1-0 decision to John Carroll University Saturday evening at Don Shula Stadium. With the loss, the Crusaders drop to 4-4-3 overall, 1-2-0 in the OAC, while the Blue Streaks improve to 9-2-2, 2-0-1 in conference play.
JCU TAKES THE LEAD
In the 21st minute of play, John Carroll scored its first and final goal of the match. From the corner, William Turrittin sent the ball into the goalkeeper's box and Mario Aboumitri sent the ball into the back of the net, securing the lead.
Capital had a total of five shots, two of which were on frame. Senior Trevor Collins (Powell, Ohio) fired a shot in the 24th minute, but John Carroll's goalkeeper made the save. Later in the first, sophomore Jacob Taylor (Elida, Ohio) took a shot that landed on frame, but Connor Robinson had the stop. The Crusaders took a total of five shots in the second half. Collins had two shots on goal early on and junior Nick Sharfenberger (Louisville, Ky.) had a shot with five minutes remaining in regulation. The Crusaders put up a good fight, but could not find the back of the net.
The Purple and White will take on Marietta College, Wednesday, October 16 at Marietta Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
