Men's Soccer Ranked Second in Preseason Coaches Poll

By: Allison Lowe, assistant sports information director

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) has announced the preseason polls for the 2019 soccer season. Capital University Men's Soccer was chosen to finish second in the preseason coaches' poll.

Capital received 76 points with four first-place votes, placing second overall in the 10-team poll. The Crusaders sit above Ohio Northern University (57) and a single point below John Carroll University (77), last year's OAC Tournament champion.

Capital and Ohio Northern were matched up in the OAC Tournament semifinals last season. Ohio Northern edged out the Crusaders moving on to play John Carroll, the favored team this season with 77 points and six first place votes. The Crusaders take the second-place spot, sitting a single point and two first-place votes below John Carroll.

Last season, the team won a share of the regular season and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they secured a first round win for a second consecutive year. With high preseason votes and a strong 2018-19 season, Capital Men's Soccer look to continue their successes in hopes of earning an OAC championship title and another NCAA Tournament bid.
