COLUMBUS, Ohio – Head Coach Alan Yost and the defending Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) co-regular season champion Capital University men's soccer team will open yet another tough schedule on the road in 2019. The Crusaders loaded their schedule with strong opponents Denison University, Ohio Wesleyan University and the College at Brockport to support another run to the NCAA Tournament.

The Crusaders seek a third consecutive trip to the national tournament and have added a variety of tough opponents to prepare them for a return. Their first tests reside in the Keystone State when Cap will take on Geneva College (8/30) and Grove City College (8/31) at the Nate Ferraco Classic, hosted by Geneva in Beaver Falls, Pa. Grove City was a 15-win team and took the No. 1 seed into the PAC Tournament but lost in the championship match.

The month of September kicks off a four-match home run beginning on September 6 when the Crusaders welcome Case Western Reserve University to Bernlohr Stadium. Cap will then play back-to-back contests against North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) competition when Denison and The College of Wooster. The finale of the homestand will be against the College at Brockport, the defending SUNYAC Tournament champion. Brockport (16-5-2) was one of five 10-plus win teams in the conference last year and went on to score a win in the NCAA Tournament in the first round.

Perennial NCAA participant, Ohio Wesleyan University, will break up the string of home matches and continue the battle between mentor and mentee when Coach Yost again faces off against his former head coach, Jay Martin and the Battling Bishops. CU's final nonconference opponent will be Hanover College (Ind.) before OAC play begins in October.

Cap will open the conference slate at home against Baldwin Wallace University (10/5) and Heidelberg University (10/9) before hitting the road for its first big contest. The co-defending regular season champs, John Carroll Blue Streaks, welcome Cap to University Heights on October 12. Last year, John Carroll defeated Capital in double overtime to win the 2018 OAC Tournament to earn the automatic qualifier to the national tournament.

Five of eight matches in October will be played at home, including Senior Day which will be held on Saturday, October 26 when the Crusaders host Ohio Northern University, a 13-win team a year ago.

The regular season will conclude with the annual rivalry between Capital and Otterbein University. That showdown will commence at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Memorial Stadium (Westerville, Ohio).

The Crusaders will play three preseason games, two on the road, before regular season play begins. The lone home exhibition will be against Ohio Dominican University (NCAA Division II) on Wednesday, August 21, at 7 p.m.

Capital comes off of a 15-5 season in 2019 that guided them to an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament where they landed a first-round win for the second year in a row. The Purple and White finished the year 8-1 in OAC for a share of the regular season title. They return Capital all-time assist leader, Greg Knox, and a host of key returners such as Tristan Bentley, Luke Morais, Cole Moscovic, Shane Neimeier, and Jamie Robson.
