Men’s Soccer Ranked in United Soccer Coaches National Top 25, Third in Great Lakes Region

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The United Soccer Coaches released its first national and regional polls on Tuesday and have rewarded Capital University Men's Soccer's 3-0-0 start with a place in the national poll.

After beating Hanover College (Ind.) and Waynesburg University (Pa.) by a combined score of 15-2 at the Fred Myers-adidas Challenge over the weekend, the Crusaders are slotted 22nd in the national poll, third in the Great Lakes region. Capital is the only Ohio Athletic Conference team in the Top 25.

The Crusaders have been unstoppable in 2018, currently ranked third in the country in goals per game with 6.33 and third in points per game with 16.67. The team's four assists per game are tied for fourth in the nation. Junior defender Greg Knox leads all Division III players in assists with seven and senior forward Chewy Gordon is tied for the national lead in goals with seven. Gordon also ranks second in points per game with 4.67.

Capital will look to continue its hot start on Wednesday, Sept. 12 with a game at Denison University. The Crusaders have not started a season 4-0-0 since 2008 when the team won five in a row to begin the year.
