NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Further adding to his list of accolades, Capital University senior Justin Niswonger was named First Team Academic All-Ohio by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA) on Tuesday afternoon.

Justin Niswonger (Circleville, Ohio/Circleville) expanded his collection of postseason awards with his second honor delivered by the OCSA in as many days. On Monday, Dec. 18 the senior goalkeeper was named First Team All-Ohio on the athletic front.

Niswonger has also been recognized for his academic contributions by the Ohio Athletic Conference after being Academic All-Ohio, and by the United Soccer Coaches a Scholar All-Region and Scholar All-American selection. He is the first Academic All-Ohio honoree for Capital since 2015 and just the third first teamer since 2013.

To be eligible for Academic All-Ohio, a student-athlete must start more than 50 percent of the team's games, be a sophomore or higher in academic standing plus be in their second year at the institution (if a transfer), possess at least a 3.20 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games, and be a significant contributor to the team's success.

With Niswonger between the posts, Capital advanced to the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament for the second time in program history as an at-large selection and collected its first win at the national tournament. He finished the year with a 12-8-2 overall record, seven shutouts, 79 saves, and a 1.11 goals-against average. For his efforts he was named OAC Goalkeeper of the Year, a First Team All-OAC selection, and named to the USC All-Region Third Team.

Over the course of his career, Niswonger has collected 22 shutouts and posted a 36-17-6 record since taking over as the team's regular starter in 2015. He has a career goals-against average of 1.26 and more than 200 saves in 63 games played. Niswonger is a three-time All-OAC pick and a 2016 OSCA Division III All-Ohio selection, in addition to the accolades he collected this year.
