COLUMBUS, Ohio – For its second-place finish in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament last week, Capital University Men's Soccer has earned three spots on the first-ever OAC All-Tournament Team, the conference announced Tuesday.
Goalkeeper Justin Niswonger (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) and defenders Dominic Zumpone (Sunbury, Ohio/Big Walnut) and Hunter Stiger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West) were the three Crusaders honored for their performances.
In Capital's three games, Niswonger made 10 saves in 290 minutes and only allowed two goals. Five of those saves came in the upset win over John Carroll University in the semifinals on Nov. 2. Niswonger also stopped two of John Carroll's penalty kicks in the shootout.
Stiger and Zumpone were part of a defensive backline that allowed only two goals in three matches and kept Heidelberg University off the scoreboard entirely in Capital's opening-round matchup on Oct. 31. Stiger took two shots in the three tournament games and Zumpone took five.
The Crusaders defeated Heidelberg in the first round of the tournament and JCU in the semis before falling to Otterbein University in the championship game.
