Cap's opponents for the 2017 season have a combined record of 168-141-40 (.539) from the 2016 season, and features five NCAA Tournament qualifiers. One of those teams, #3 University of Saint Thomas (Minn.), advanced to the Final Four of the national tournament.

Capital's first two games will be on the road and set to be played in Maryland. Cap will open the season on Friday, Sept. 1 against Salisbury University. That match marks the first of two in as many days when Cap makes a short turnaround to play St. Mary's College of Maryland at their place.

The Crusaders then open their home slate with their first major task of the season on the opening day of the Fred Myers Invitational, which Cap cohosts with Ohio Wesleyan University. They welcome national semifinalist St. Thomas, which a season ago finished with 20 wins and won its conference tournament championship. That game will be held on Friday, Sept. 9. The very next day, they host Millikin University (Ill.).

After a date with Denison University (Sept. 13), Cap will hit the road to play its second NCAA qualifying team, #24 Washington & Lee University. As an at-large selection, the Generals won its first round matchup before being bounced in the second round.

Capital rounds out its nonconference schedule on September 27 when they head up the road to Delaware, Ohio to face Ohio Wesleyan. OWU played in its 39th Division III postseason as an at-large invitee. Last year, Capital bested the Battling Bishops, 1-0.

The best rivalry in the conference kicks off Ohio Athletic Conference play when Otterbein University comes to Purmort Field at Bernlohr Stadium on Saturday, September 30. The Crusaders and Cardinals will reignite their long-standing rivalry at 7 p.m.

So begins nine straight OAC matches, four of which will be held at Capital's friendly confines. After hosting their rivals, the Crusaders will hit the road for two matches, including a rematch of last year's OAC Tournament Semifinal. Ohio Northern University, which advanced to the NCAA Tournament as an at-large selection, will round out that road trip with a match in Ada, Ohio on Saturday, October 7.

Cap will celebrate its Senior Day against defending OAC Champion John Carroll University on Saturday, Oct. 21. It will then play its final two conference games on the road at Heidelberg University (Oct. 25) and Baldwin Wallace University (Oct. 28).

Capital is coming off a season in which they put together their longest winning streak (10 games) and longest unbeaten streak (14 games) in program history. They advanced to the OAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed behind a 5-2-2 conference record, amidst winning the second-most games in a single season (14).
