ADA, Ohio –The Capital University men's soccer team was in action Wednesday night in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals against Ohio Northern University. Cap was defeated by the Polar Bears 4-0.
Ohio Northern came out shooting. They scored two goals in the first four minutes of play, both from Austin Horton.
The Polar Bears added one more goal with less than two minutes left in the first half. Jimmy Walkinshaw was the recipient of a Matt Kinkopf cross to score the goal.
In the first half the Crusaders were outshot 11-2.
Ohio Northern added one more goal in the second half to make the final score 4-0.
Junior Justin Niswonger (Centerville, Ohio) made four saves on 20 shots.
Senior Cheyn Roux (Davidson, N.C.) and freshman Tyler Wujczyk (Beverly Hills, Mich.) led Capital with one shot each. Both Roux's and Wujczyk's shots were on goal. Calvin Saunders, Chewy Gordon, Alex Komatz, and Luke Morais all added a shot apiece.
For the match, Cap was outshot by Ohio Northern, 20-6. The Polar Bears had the slight edge in corner kicks, 7-5.
With the loss, Capital finishes the season 14-4-2. The Crusaders will wait to see if they will receive an at large bid into the NCAA DIII Tournament. The selection show is Nov. 7, at 1 p.m.
