Niswonger Leads the Nation in Two Categories

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior Justin Niswonger (Centerville, Ohio) leads the nation for goals-against average as well as save percentage.

On the season, Niswonger is 8-0 with six shutouts. He leads the nation with a goals-against average of 0.13 and a save percentage of .964. So far this season, Niswonger has played 697:56. His play has led to his team gaining a national ranking in two separate polls.

He has only allowed one goal on 80 shots. Of his eight wins, four of them have been a one goal differential. His play in net along with his communication has been key in the success of the Capital defense.

Niswonger has eight consecutive wins, six of which are shutouts. The biggest shutout came against Ohio Wesleyan University, who was ranked No. 13 in the nation by and has a record of 5-2-3. He also shutout No. 7, in the region at the time, Thomas More College which is 6-6 on the season. Other shutouts came against Hope College, Denison University, The College of Wooster, and conference rival Otterbein.  He leads the OAC in those two categories as well as in goals against with just one goal allowed.

Following its match against the Fighting Quakers on Wednesday afternoon, Capital will host the No. 4/7 team in the country, Ohio Northern University, on Saturday, Oct. 8.
