COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's soccer team was in action at Bernlohr Stadium Saturday afternoon against Waynesburg University. Cap featured three different players scoring goals.
The Yellow Jackets took a 1-0 lead into the half after scoring at the 34-minute mark.
Cap responded with a goal 10 minutes into the second half. Senior Hunter Booth (Liberty Township, Ohio) scored on a header. Senior Jacob Pulliam (Westerville, Ohio/ Westerville North) sent a ball into the box off of a corner kick, tying the game at 1-1.
Senior Alexander Basiakos (Hilliard, Ohio/ Hilliard Bradley) scored at the 58-minute mark, making the score 2-1 in favor of Cap. Freshman Greg Knox (Oxford, Mich.) sent the ball into the box off of a corner kick. Basiakos was there to beat the keeper with a header, extending the Capital lead to 2-1.
Freshman Tyler Wujczyk (Beverly Hills, Mich.) scored the final goal for Capital. Freshman Cole Moscovic (Novi, Mich.) recorded the assist on Wujczyk's goal. Moscovic fed the ball in from the left side and Wujczyk faked out the goalie then shot. Capital took a 3-1 lead for the win.
Junior Justin Niswonger (Centerville, Ohio) got the start in goal for the Crusaders. He improved to 4-0 on the season in net.
Capital outshot Waynesburg 20-6. The Crusader defense was stout holding Waynesburg to only one shot in the first half and five in the second half. Cap also earned more corner kicks than the Yellow Jackets, 9-3.
Capital improves to 5-1 on the season and extend the winning-streak to five games. Cap returns to action on Sept. 21 as they travel to Delaware, Ohio. The Crusaders will battle The College of Wooster. The match is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
