COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two early goals were more than enough to lead the Capital University men's soccer team to a shutout victory over the University of Mount Union.

Less than three minutes into the match, Josh Spaw (Cincinnati, Ohio) got the Crusaders on the board to take an early advantage. At 2:35 into the match Spaw scored his first goal of the season after being led in by Jacob Pullium. The assist was Pullium's first point of the year.

Nearly ten minutes later, senior RG Florey (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville) doubled up Capital's lead with a goal in the 13th minute of the match. The goal went unassisted.

Trevor Funk (Dublin, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) kept the Purple Raiders off of the scoreboard, coming up with three saves to record his first career shutout victory. Twice he kept an opponent scoreless in a 45-minute session.

Capital won the shot differential, 13-6, over the hosts and also held a slight advantage on corners, 4-3.

Capital (6-4, 1-0 OAC) will bring the action back home for a pair of home matches against Ohio Athletic Conference competition. They will host Muskingum University on Oct. 8 and Otterbein University on Oct. 11.
