BEVERLY, OhioLogan Holbrook had another solid outing and placed third overall at the Pioneer Classic this weekend. Capital placed fourth as a team at the tournament, which was held at Lakeside Golf Club in Beverly, Ohio.

Logan Holbrook (Logan, Ohio/Logan) went out on the 6,306-yard, par 70 course and turned in a one-over, 71 in the opening round to set himself up well for the second round. His 71 landed him in third place and while his day two score was slightly higher, he maintained that placement on the individual leaderboard. On day two, the senior posted a 73 and kept sole possession of third with his 144 total.

Cap boasted two top-10 finishers after the weekend ended, the other being Noah Iovino (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome).  The senior came in and once again was a source of consistent play for the Crusaders, tallying daily totals of 75 and 74. His 149, nine-over par landed him seventh place overall.

Iovino was one of four Cap golfers to show improvement between days one and two of the tournament. Junior Ryan Czerniakowski (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) showed the largest leap with a four-stroke improvement, going from 79 to 75 between rounds. He finished in 18th place.

Junior Chris Dearth (81-80-160) rounded out the list of Cap scorers and shared 23rd overall, while sophomore Ryan Wright also improved by one stroke (81-80-161).

Cap (306-301-607) left round one in second place but fell back into fourth despite their improvement. All five teams improved their scores, though the University of Virginia at Wise (310-292) and Muskingum University (310-294) leaped Cap after their scores, which dropped by double-digits. Ohio Valley University took the team title after turning in rounds of 291 and 282 (573), 29 strokes better than second place Virginia-Wise.

Ohio Valley's Adam O'Hara (66-70-136) held on to win top medalist honors, followed by OVU's Kyler Dennis (70-72-142) and Holbrook.

Capital's next action will be on April 6-7 when they compete at the Otterbein Spring Classic at NorthStar Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio.
