AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – For the fourth time in his career, Capital University junior Logan Holbrook has been named OAC Male Golfer of the Week by the conference office. The announcement came from the OAC on Tuesday afternoon following Holbrook's superb turnaround en route to victory at the men's golf team's most recent tournament.
Capital Men's Golf competed at the Raiders Fall Classic, hosted by the University of Mount Union at the Alliance Country Club (par 72). On Sunday's first round, Holbrook posted an 8-over par (80) despite windy and soggy conditions. He entered day two of the tournament 10 strokes out of first place and in 15th position on the leaderboard. By the end of the day he overtook the lead and closed out the day as the top medalists by shooting 3-under par (69), marking an 11-shot improvement on Monday.
The win marked the second tournament victory of his career but also fueled Capital's escalation up the team leaderboard, as well. Holbrook led the Crusaders to better their day-two score by 27 strokes and elevate from a share of fifth place to third, and only trailed second-place John Carroll University by one shot.
Holbrook's performance helped him join good company in the Capital record books. His 69 now joins four others as the second-lowest single round by a Crusader in the program's recorded history.
