Capital Comes in Second in the Cardinal Classic

SUNBURY, Ohio – The Capital University men's golf team took to the links in the Cardinal Classic hosted by Otterbein University, at the NorthStar Golf Club. Noah Iovino finished in second place with a 73.

Sophomore Noah Iovino (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) led Capital and finished second overall with a 73 stroke day.

Junior Justin Dearth (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) tied for eighth place. Dearth shot a 76 just four shots off of the leader.

Sophomore Logan Holbrook (Logan, Ohio / Logan) finished five shots behind the leader with a round of 77.

Freshman Jake Barstow (Logan, Ohio / Logan) came in fourth on Cap's team with a 79.

Senior Jeff Czerniakowski (Sylvania, Ohio / Sylvania Northview) finished the day with an 85 to round out the team scoring.

Senior Mitchell Cook (Bucyrus, Ohio / Colonel Crawford) tied for sixth with a 75 as he participated as an individual.

Freshman Nick Brunsman (Independence, Ohio / Independence) tied for eighth with a 76. Brunsman also competed as an individual.

Host Otterbein won the tournament with a team score of 301, followed by Capital with a 305. The University of Mount Union came in third with a combined score of 309.

The Crusaders return to action next Friday-Sunday as they compete in the OAC Championships at the River Greens Golf Course, in West Lafayette, Ohio.
