HARROD, Ohio – The Capital University men's golf team took to the course for the second day at the Colonial Golfers Club for the ONU Spring Invitational. Cap finished fourth out of 10 teams with a two-day total of 613 strokes, led by Jake Barstow with a 151.
Freshman Jake Barstow (Logan, Ohio / Logan) placed seventh overall with a round of 80 on day one and a career-low round of 71 on day two. Barstow tied for the fourth lowest round of the tournament out of 54 golfers.
Sophomore Noah Iovino (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) tied for eighth. On day one Iovino shot a team-low 77 and followed that up with a 75 on day two. He finished just one stroke behind Barstow.
Senior Jeff Czerniakowski (Sylvania, Ohio / Sylvania) posted a two-day total of 154 as he tied for 14th. He shot a 78 on day one and followed that up with a two-stroke improvement, 76, on day two.
Senior Mitchell Cook (Bucyrus, Ohio / Colonel Crawford) shot an 85 on day one, but improved by 10 strokes on day two for a 75. He finished the tournament with a two-day total of 160.
Sophomore Logan Holbrook (Logan, Ohio / Logan) shot an 81 on day one and 82 on day two, for a tournament total 163.
As a team, the Crusaders tied the lowest round of the tournament with a 297. That score also ranks tied for the third lowest team total in school history. With a tournament total of 613, Cap posted the fifth best two-day total in school history.
NCAA Division II Tiffin University finished in first place with a combined total of 595, 13 strokes better than second place Ohio Northern University. Lourdes University finished in third place with a team total of 612.
Capital returns to action next Sunday and Monday as they host the OAC Spring Classic at the Cumberland Trail Golf Club in Pataskala, Ohio.
