MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Over the midterm break, Capital University Men's Golf traveled down to South Carolina to partake in a triad of duals partaken against Saint Anselm College (N.H.) and Rosemont College (Pa.). Logan Holbrook emerged with top medalist honors in each of the first two duals while Capital went 1-2 against its competition over a three-day span.

On Friday, March 3 the Purple and White faced off against the Hawks of Saint Anselm College (NCAA Division II) for the first two duals over a two-day span. The Hawks edged out the Crusaders by a mere eight strokes, 331-339. The first dual took place at Barefoot Love, a 7,047-yard course under conditions with strong winds.

Sophomore Logan Holbrook (Logan, Ohio/Logan) earned the first of his three medalist honors behind a first-place finish and round low 79. He beat out the next nearest competitor, Saint Anselm's Steve Hunt, by two strokes for the top spot.

Despite Holbrook's top placement, St. Anselm took the two through five spots on the overall leaderboard to help gain back that ground. Cap's next finishers were senior Jeff Czerniakowski (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northwood) and sophomore Noah Iovino (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome), both of whom posted an 86 on the day.

Senior Phil Martin and freshman Ryan Czerniakowski each turned in an 88 for the round.

Capital came back the next day and took to the links at Grande Dunes, a 7,183-yard course that was displaying a slight breeze. The Purple and White made a slight lineup alteration that paid off in the form of a 322-340 victory over St. Anselm.

Holbrook not only took top medalist honors for the second straight day but also shot better on day two by three strokes, posting an 18-hole score of 76. Capital added Jake Barstow (Logan, Ohio/Logan) to Saturday's lineup, which paid off big dividends after the freshman shot a 78, good for second on the individual leaderboard.

St. Anselm's Steve Hunt (81) replicated his score from the day before, but teammate Nick Carter has an off day, which resulted in a 13-stroke increase in the second dual.

Behind Holbrook and Barstow, Iovino and teammate Justin Dearth (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) came in with a pair of 84s, while Jeff Czerniakowski rounded out Capital's scorecard with an 89.

Capital partook in a third dual meet on Sunday, March 6, against Rosemont College (Pa.) at Legends Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Just 10 strokes separated the two teams on Capital's final day of play but Rosemont earned the victory, 308-318.

Capital played its entire travel party either as part of the starting five or as an individual. Jeff Czerniakowski finished with Cap's low score behind a 77 (+5) over 18 holes. That landed him second place on the overall leaderboard behind Rosemont's Jordan Cook (74).

Rosemont took three of the top five spots in the player standings. Behind his best round of the weekend, Iovino (78) shared fourth place with Rosemont's Erik Diamond. With Rosemont's four sub-80 scorers, it created just enough separation to claim the win at the end.

Holbrook fell back in his last round of the weekend, ending Sunday's play with an 81 (+9). Phillip Martin (82) and Mitchell Cook (83) rounded out the starting lineup for Capital.

Capital played three athletes as individuals including Barstow (82), Ryan Czerniakowski (87) and Logan Hodak (90).
