Holbrook Leads Capital to Victory at Warrior Intercollegiate Invite

LAKE ORION, Mich. – Capital Men's Golf had a special day on the links at Indianwood Country Club, where the Crusaders broke a five-year drought with its first team tournament victory. Logan Holbrook led Capital and earned top medalist honors after his best round of the 2016-17 season.

Sophomore Logan Holbrook (Logan, Ohio) put forth his best single round of the season and of his young career, carding a 70 in 18 holes on Tuesday afternoon. His previous single-round best was a 72, which he posted twice this and two more times during the 2015-16 campaign. His score on Tuesday was more than enough to grant him first place overall.

Capital put forth a team score 304, which was more than enough to bring home its first team tournament victory since Fall 2011.  That victory was recorded at the Kenyon Fall Invitational on Sept. 25, 2011 when the Crusaders shot 315-322-637 to defeat a five-team field by a minimum of six strokes.

The victory also served as the first team victory for Andy Garcia as a head coach.

"I am so proud of these guys," said Garcia. "The grind and grit that they displayed down the final stretch of nine holes is what we preach every day. To come from behind and win at a course that none of them have played shows the will and determination of this bunch."

Senior Jeff Czerniakowski (Sylvania, Ohio) put up Cap's second-best score with a 75.
