SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Logan Holbrook continued his solid freshman season after serving as the top Capital University finisher during the men's golf team's appearance at the Rosencrans-Maurer Invitational, hosted by Wittenberg University. The Crusaders finished fourth out of nine teams that competed at the Springfield Country Club.
Holbrook, a freshman from Logan, Ohio, once again was Capital's top placer after taking a share of 11th place overall. He shot a consistent 74 and 73 over the two-day tournament.
Following close behind was another freshman making big strides this season, Noah Iovino (Dublin, Ohio). Iovino equaled his teammate's first-day 74, and came back with a 76 on the second day. He placed 20th overall with his two-day 150 scorecard.
Also scoring for Capital was junior Jeff Czerniakowski (78-78-156) and junior Phillip Martin (78-79). Daniel Shafer was on the fast track to successful tournament, shooting a first-round 74, but had a less-than-favorable day by shooting an 87 on Monday.
Capital placed fourth with a set of scores that read 300 and 306, totaling 606 over the tournament.
Placing first was host Wittenberg, who as a team set a new program two-day record with its 282-283-565 scorecard. Otterbein University (288-291-579) placed second while the College of Wooster took third.
Capital will now prepare for its season finale at the OAC Championships, held April 29 to May 1 at River Greens in West Lafayette, Ohio.
