McComb Leads Men’s Golf to Solid Start at OAC Spring Invite

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University men's golf team started the Ohio Athletic Conference Spring Invitational on the right foot, ending the opening round at Little Turtle Golf Club in third place out of an eight-team field. Parker McComb is the top placer for Capital, sharing sixth overall.

Host Otterbein University and Ohio Northern University are tied for first place in the team standings. Each shot a first-round 305 and have a 12-shot advantage on Capital (317).

McComb, a senior from Gahanna, Ohio, was the top finisher for the Crusaders after shooting a 76 on Sunday. He shared sixth place in the individual standings with Colin Burns of ONU and Adam Sanders of Baldwin Wallace University.

McComb is just four shots off of the leaders David Monaco (Otterbein) and Adam Wickham (Mount Union), who shot 72s.

Junior Daniel Shafer (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) finished just two shots behind McComb and shares 14th place overall.

Ryan Kimmerling (80), Jeff Czerniakowski (83) and Phillip Martin (86) rounded out the Capital scorecard.

The second round will commence on Monday morning from Little Turtle Golf Club.
