Men’s Golf Wraps Up Shortened Muskingum Invite

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – After a month off, the Capital University men's golf team got back on the links, albeit for a shortened one-day tournament. The Crusaders played 18 holes at the Muskingum University Invitational at Eagle Sticks Golf Club in Zanesville, Ohio. Capital finished fourth out of the four-team field.

With inclement weather coming through on Saturday, the decision was made to shorten the tournament to a single day and 18 holes.

Capital, a team, finished fourth behind a 326 (+46) scorecard. Otterbein University posted a sub-300 (299) team score to take the tournament team championship. Host Muskingum (309) placed second with John Carroll University placing third (316).

The Crusaders were paced by junior Daniel Shafer (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) who finished with a nine-over par, 79 (41-38). His finish was good for 12th-place, overall.

Sophomore Jadee Davis (Ashville, Ohio) also finished inside the top-15, sharing it with one other competitors after shooting an 81 (39-42) for the day.

Rounding out Capital's scorecard were senior Tyler Rice (42-40-82) and sophomore Jeff Czerniakowski (42-42-84).

Capital will host a two-day, two-site tournament next week at the Purple and White Invitational. The men's and women's teams will co-host the event with both fields splitting time at Royal American Links (Galena, Ohio) and New Albany Links (New Albany, Ohio).
