Men’s Hoops Jumps to #19 in National Rankings

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital University Men's Basketball is now ranked nationally for the third week in a row. On Monday, January 28, announced its weekly Division III national poll and the Crusaders are now ranked 19th in the country.

Capital, now 16-3 overall and in a tie for first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference behind an 11-1 conference record, was previously No. 23 in last week's poll. Being ranked No. 19 now marks the highest the team has been ranked this year.

Last week the Crusaders won its second and third straight contests against Muskingum University, 89-69, and rival Otterbein University, 93-61. Each of their last three wins has been by at least 20 points, including a 102-49 victory over Ohio Northern University on January 18.

Capital looks to extend its latest winning streak to four games on Wednesday when they host another nationally-ranked team in a battle for first place in the OAC. No. 8 Marietta College will come to The Capital Center for a 7 p.m. tip.

Senior Austin Schreck comes into the contest ranked fourth in the conference in scoring (17.0) and is also in the top-10 in rebounds (7th, 5.7) and assists (8th, 58). Teammate Caleb Cox resides in the top-10 in multiple categories, including rebounding (2nd, 10.3), field goal percentage (2nd, .610), and steals (9th, 25).
