Cox Named OAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference announced its first 2019 athletes of week and Capital University Men's Basketball's Caleb Cox earned the honor on the men's hoops side.

The senior forward averaged a double-double over three games between Dec. 17 and Jan. 5 with averages of 15.3 points and 10.3 rebounds. Cox double-doubled in two of those games.

The Cincinnati, Ohio native began the holiday period with 12 points, six rebounds, four assists, a steal and two blocks in an 87-69 win over Westminster College (Pa.) before exploding for 15 points and 15 boards two days later against Wilmington College in a 75-62 win. Cox then began the new year with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting and 10 rebounds in another Cap win, 71-63 over the University of Mount Union. The win was Capital's 10th in a row and gave Mount Union its first OAC defeat of the season.

This is the first OAC Player of the Week award for Cox.

The Crusaders are 11-2 overall this season and tied for first in the conference at 6-0. The Crusaders will be tested once again in another battle for conference supremacy this Wednesday, Jan. 9 when they travel to Marietta College to take on the No. 8 Pioneers at their place. Marietta is 12-1 overall this year and also 6-0 in the conference. Tip off between the Crusaders and Pioneers is scheduled for 7 p.m.
