Ohio Northern University (46) was picked to finish just behind the Crusaders. Muskingum University (39), Heidelberg University (32) and Wilmington College (18) earned the next three spots. Rounding out the poll is Otterbein University with nine points.

Capital finished last season with a 13-13 overall record and an 8-10 conference record and will return 10 players from last year's squad. Brennan Czuchran (Ragland, Ohio/Buckeye Local) is the only senior on this season's roster but the rest of the returners all have plenty of game experience.

Junior guard Austin Schreck (Erlanger, Ky./Dixie Heights) will be counted on to make things happen for Damon Goodwin's Crusaders this season after averaging 11.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game as a sophomore. Four other juniors will also help provide veteran leadership to the six newcomers to the team.

Returning sophomores Tyler Jamison (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville), Nate Boone (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson), Ganiyu Yahaya (Allen, Ky./Wesley Christian) and Dan Auble (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville) all played extensively as freshmen.

The 2017-18 season will tip off on Nov. 15 when the Crusaders host La Roche College. OAC play starts Dec. 2 with a home date against Ohio Northern University.
