MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, D3football.com announced its all-region teams to highlight the best Division III college football players around the country. Among those is Capital University senior Dartavious Stanford, who was named Second Team All-North Region following a wildly successful 2018 campaign.
Dar Stanford (Zanesville, Ohio/Zanesville) adds to his expansive trophy case after becoming the first Capital player to be named to a D3football.com All-Region Team since 2011 with WR Matt White and LB Troy Spiker. Last month, Stanford was named First Team All-OAC for the second consecutive season behind a record-setting season.
Stanford not only led the Ohio Athletic Conference but also set a new Capital Football record with 85 catches during the 2018 season. That mark eclipsed the previous record shared by Lewis Howes '05 and Matt White '11 which sat at 84 catches in a single season. Stanford finished the year with 1,083 receiving yards, good for an average of 108.3 yards per game, and matched his previous year's achievement of 12 receiving touchdowns.
Stanford eclipsed the 100-yard mark in six contests this year and found the end zone at least once in six games. The senior had four multi-score games including two three-score days that tied the program record for most receiving touchdowns in a game. Stanford also threw for one touchdown after successfully running a trick play that found WR Wyatt Pertuset in the end zone as part of a win over rival Otterbein University.
He finishes his two-year career with 24 touchdown catches, good for third all-time on the CU charts. His 2,202 receiving yards pushes him to number five on the school's all-time list, and his 148 catches mark him seventh in a career.
