COLUMBUS, Ohio – Preparing to enter the third season under head coach Chad Rogosheske, Capital University Football has announced its 10-game schedule for 2018.
As the Crusaders did in 2017, the team will open the year against Mount St. Joseph University on Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. This year though, the game will be played at Schueler Field in Cincinnati.
A week later on Sept. 8, Capital will open its Ohio Athletic Conference slate with a date at Marietta College. Capital ended its 2017 home season against the Pioneers last year.
The team will then open on Purmort Field at Bernlohr Stadium on Sept. 15 against Heidelberg University and that game will be the team's annual night game with a 7 p.m. start. Capital rushed for 138 yards against the Student Princes last year, the team's second-best rushing game of the season.
Following a week four bye, Capital play another game in its friendly confines on Homecoming against Baldwin Wallace University on Sept. 29. The Crusaders had their third-highest scoring game of 2017 against the Yellow Jackets with a 34-point performance in Berea. That game will kick off at 1:30 p.m.
Capital will hit the road to begin October and face John Carroll University on Oct. 6 but then return home for two more games. The first will be played at 1:30 p.m. against the University of Mount Union, the defending Division III national champions, on Oct. 13 and then the Ohio University Polar Bears will roll into town on Oct. 20.
On Oct. 27, the Crusaders will be on the northeast fringe of Columbus to take on rival Otterbein University at Memorial Stadium at 1:30 p.m. Capital racked up 476 total yards against the Cardinals in 2017, 399 through the air, and scored a season-best 42 points in a back-and-forth nail-biter of a game.
The final home game of the 2018 season will be played against Wilmington College on Nov. 3 at 1:30 p.m. and the Crusaders will wrap up the regular season on the road with a battle in New Concord against Muskingum University. Capital hung 39 points and 537 total yards on the Fighting Muskies last year and had 219 rushing yards. That game will be played at 1:30 p.m.
