Football Places Eight on Academic All-OAC

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Capital University's football team put eight student athletes on this year's Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference list.

The award honors students that are sophomores or higher that maintain varsity status throughout the year while maintaining at least a 3.50 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

First-time recipients include Logan Hernon (Hilliard, Ohio), Jon Eaton (Wapakoneta, Ohio), Nick Iske (Hilliard, Ohio), Eriq Hall (Lorain, Ohio), and Hunter Smith (Zanesville, Ohio).

Hernon received increase playing time this season as a junior, Eaton appeared in five games, Iske, played the role of a situational quarterback, tallying three rushing touchdowns, Hall was unable to get on the field much due to injury, and Smith, who plays running back, caught four passes out of the back field, with a receiving touchdown against Baldwin Wallace.

Tyler Conner (Grove City, Ohio), Kristopher Lee (Piqua, Ohio), and Derek Eibon (Amherst, Ohio) all made the list for a second consecutive season.

Conner, the lone senior to make the list, registered 35 total tackles with 3.5 sacks, Eibon, a middle linebacker, led the Crusaders with 81 tackles, while Lee collected 12.
