Walton Repeats as OAC Offensive Player of the Week

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – For the second straight week, Capital's Brent Walton was voted as the Ohio Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for week four of the football season.

Walton, a junior B-back for the Capital football team, was instrumental in the Crusaders' historic win over Muskingum University on Saturday night. He rattled off a total of 207 yards rushing yards on 28 carries, averaging 7.4 yards per touch. He found the end zone three times, making for his third consecutive game in which he scored three touchdowns.

Capital's win will go down in history as it was achieved in the University's first home night football game held at Bernlohr Stadium, and in front of a capacity crowd. The Crusaders beat the Muskies 34-31 to improve to 2-0 in OAC play for the first time since 2011.

Walton was named OAC Offensive Player of the Week following the Crusaders' win over Wilmington on Sept. 19. He now has won two such honors in his career.

He is also inching closer to the top of Capital's all-time record books as a rusher. Over his career, Walton has 2,181 yards in 23 games, which surpassed Dominic D'Andrea (2007-10/2,083 yards) for third place all-time at Capital. He is just nine yards away from supplanting Ed Garver (1954-57) for second and 106 yards away from breaking the all-time record, held by Rayshaun Gales (2000-02). Walton has rushed for 516 yards and averaged 172 yards per game, this season, helping Capital become the fifth-ranking rushing attack in NCAA Division III.

Capital will hit the road to take on the University of Mount Union (3-0, 2-0 OAC), which is currently ranked No. 2 in the country. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Mount Union Stadium.
