Walton Cruises to Offensive OAC Player of the Week

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference announced on Monday afternoon that Capital University junior Brent Walton has been named the Offensive Player of the Week after week three of football season.

Walton and the Crusaders rolled to a 49-27 road victory against Wilmington College last Saturday night at Williams Stadium. The Pickerington, Ohio native and Pickerington Central High School product churned out rushing touchdowns to end each of the Crusaders' first three scoring drives in the win.

Walton finished the game with 179 rushing yards on 19 carries to average 9.3 yards per touch. His performance added to the more than 350 yards of rushing offense and 500-plus yards of total offense that the Crusaders turned in. He found paydirt three times, upping his season total to six in just two games played.

The honor marks the first Capital student-athlete to be named player of the week by the conference during the 2015-16 athletic season. It is also Walton's first career player of the week selection.

Capital (1-1, 1-0 OAC) will host Muskingum University this Saturday in the first home night football game played at Bernlohr Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
