AUBURNDALE, Fla.—The Capital Crusaders baseball team continued play with a doubleheader against Alma College on Sunday afternoon. The first game ended in a 3-2 defeat while the second ended with the score, 4-3.
Alma College (3-0) registered the first run of the game when Yoan De La Rosa grounded out to second base, allowing Alex Peczynski to cross home plate.
With two outs, Matthew Carnahan (Moundsville, W. Va.) flied out to right field to end the game.
Bastin led the Crusaders with three hits. Followed by Jake Foley (Pataskala, Ohio) who added two.
Junior pitcher Austin Underwood (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) received the loss, allowing six hits and three runs.
Foley got on base with a single in the first at bat of the game. The sophomore outfielder advanced to second after Ennis grounded out to second. Bastin singled to bring Foley in for the score.
With the game tied 1-1 in the top of the eighth, the Crusaders took the lead when an error allowed Bastin to reach first, giving way to Foley and Alexander Smith (Elk Grove, Calif.) to score runs.
The Scots scored three runs in the eighth inning to take the game. The game-winning run came when Dayne San Miguel was hit by pitch with the bases loaded, sending Juan Dominguez across home plate.
Foley paced the Crusaders with a pair of hits and two runs.
Brendon Borkey (Kirtland Hills, Ohio) received the loss, falling to 0-1 on the season.
