Top Moment #6: Men's Soccer Builds Season-Long 10 Game Win Streak/ 14 Game Unbeaten Streak

Week number three of our Top Moments of 2016-17 kicks off today. Be sure to come back on Wednesday to see what the number five moment is!

After starting the season with a loss, the men's soccer team got on a roll and tallied a 10-game winning streak and a 14-game unbeaten streak. During the streaks, Cap climbed to No. 18 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll and to No. 19 in the d3soccer.com poll.

The winning streak began with a 2-0 victory over Hope College in the Fred Myers Invitational. Win number 10 came against Wilmington College.

Daniel Bundschuh paced Cap with two goals in the victory over Wilmington. Chewy Gordon and Alexander Basiakos each added one goal each. Gordon, along with Tyler Wujczyk, Jacob Pulliam, and Greg Knox all had an assist.

Despite the winning streak coming to an end, the Crusaders still did not suffer a defeat. When nationally ranked (No. 4/7) Ohio Northern came to town, Cap answered the call by scoring two goals for the draw, both by Alexander Basiakos.

Capital would then defeat Muskingum University, draw with the University of Mount Union and knock off Marietta College to move the unbeaten streak to 14 games.

Honorable Mention: Niswonger and Roux lead the way for victory on Senior Day

Justin Niswonger made a diving save to prevent Patrick O'Malley's header at the 11-minute mark. At the 35-minute mark, Niswonger made a brilliant diving stop to keep another shot out. Cheyn Roux was the hero on Senior Night as he chipped in a ball that was deflected by a defender that found the back of a wide-open net.
