Gameday Saturday to Feature Family Day Events and Pokemon Go! Hunt

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital University will be booming with fun and excitement this Saturday, Sept. 24 with an array of events happening on campus. The Capital football team will welcome Wilmington College to Bernlohr Stadium, Capital students will be welcoming their families and friends, and a cast of Pokemon will visit campus as part of a Pokemon Go! hunt being hosted prior to the football game.

If you are into the ongoing Pokemon Go! mobile game craze, get ready to hunt your heart out with the Pokemon Go! Hunt that will be held on campus prior to the evening football game. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., an organized free-for-all will be had on the Capital campus for those seeking to capture and add to their Pokemon collection. Two lures will be set at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. around The Capital Center and Bernlohr Stadium (corner of Pleasant Ridge Ave. and East Mound Street).  Other lures exist around campus, and can be seen on the provided Capital Pokemap.    -- click here for Pokemap -- 

Rumor has it that The Capital Center is a perfect breeding ground for one of the rarest Pokemon, so be watchful when in that area.

Hunt with friends, family and people from all over the community and then join us for the Capital/Wilmington football game that starts at 7 p.m.

The Capital Gaming Collective (CGC) and the Capital Pokemon League (CPL) is partnering with Capital Athletics to run the event. The CGC will having information set up outside of The Capital Center while the CPL will be located inside the lobby.

Saturday also marks Fall Family Day at Capital. Beginning at 10 a.m., events will be held on campus which include a campus-wide brunch, trip to the COSI Science Center, Family Bingo, a presentation at The Schumacher Gallery, and a Cap Family Tailgate beginning at 3:30 p.m.. The main event will be Capital's second-ever home night football game. The Purple and White will host the Wilmington Fightin' Quakers (0-2) under the lights at Bernlohr Stadium in a stadium-wide "Purple Out". Capital (1-1) comes off a 34-16 road win at Muskingum University and look to improve to 2-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. #BeatWilmington

Cap Fam, family, friends, and fans are encouraged to match the Capital football team, which will be wearing all purple uniforms, and deck out in purple clothing. #WearPurple

The Capital University Society of Sport Management (CUSSM) will also be hosting a Twitter Photo Contest through the first half of the football game. Break out your phones, snap a fun and spirited picture and tweet it! Use the hashtag #CUSSM, and we will pick three photos to have fans decide the best of the best! The winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to a local area restaurant. #CUSSM

CUSSM will also give two teams of six individuals the right to compete for additional gift certificates with a halftime relay race that involves dizzy bat, sack races, and a football speed dress up competition. Children interested in participating in the relay should sign up at the designated table inside The Cap Center lobby before the game begins. You'll have to come watch and cheer on our contestants!
